Sushi again! 🍣

Last night we made sushi again, and this time both maki (rice inside) and uramaki (rice outside)! You can look here to make the sushi rice!

All the ingredients we used this time are in the picture:

It's pretty easy to roll the rice! One thing I noticed is that if your hands are wet, it's easier to roll the rice and not have it sticked on your fingers! So make sure you are close to a tab or something similar! Next time I will make a video on how to roll them, I forgot this time 😅

  • Place the rolling mat (I bought mine from Waitrose) on a chopping board

  • On top of the rolling mat, place one of the nori seaweed - the shiny side should always be on the outside of the sushi

  • Place some rice on it and spread across evenly - again, make sure your hands are a bit wet so is easier to spread the rice!

  • Now if you want to do maki, carry on adding fish, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese or whatever you prefer on this side; make sure you place the fish and veg at the bottom of the seaweed and rice - so basically close to you!

  • If instead you want to do urumaki, you would need to flip the rice and nori seaweed, so basically you will have instead of the seaweed laying on the rolling mat, you will have the rice on it! Once you flipped it, carry on adding the fish, vegetable or whatever as usual!

  • You can now start rolling from the bottom, tucking the edge of the roll to fully enclose the filling. Lift the edge of the mat and continue to roll forward until the sushi is formed into a firm cylinder.

  • Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi cylinder!

We found some caviar and we added this on top of the sushi - it was delish! Same with some sriracha sauce inside and outside!
